A Gentleman Burglar

Everything looked in order when I came to my retreat. I only discovered that it had been burgled after I saw that a few louvres had been removed and two window iron bars had been pried away when I was in the back room. I went out to the back and saw that the pried window panes had been neatly stacked in a pile on the ground.

I then went through the house to check what had been stolen.  There were signs that every cupboard and every drawer had been opened but gently closed back.  The intruder had not messed up or ransacked the house.

Nothing was taken except for some cash from my daughter's piggy bank. I did not begrudge the thief the money as I felt he was a gentleman burglar. I would not be upset, either, had he stolen something as I was not attached to anything anymore.
