A Young Soul in An Aging Body

How strange it is
Not to see an old me
But an image younger
Whenever I look into a mirror.

But looking at my holiday snapshots
I see an old me
And looking at my passport photo
I see a truly old me!

However, I don't feel old
I've got a young soul in an aging body
I thank the Lord
I'm still able to enjoy a few pleasures of the young.
I thank the few young, too,
Who are blind to my age
Making me feel evergreen.

Today the word old doesn't fit the majority of seniors. They're leading active, dynamic lives  -  socializing, exercising, learning, travelling, and falling in love again. They're proof that...Aging has changed. It's time to change our mind about aging.

A Beauty No More

Once touted as beautiful by many
Father Time hasn't been kind to her
It has teased her face of beauty
Covering it with wrinkles and crow's feet,
And given her a bloating, flabby body to boot.

But the saddest thing to see,
That in her battle to cover the ravages of time,
She's got no good sense at dressing,
And with extremely heavy make-up
She looks more like a lady of the night!

Poor soul!
Can't a kind soul tell her
That false eye-lashes and thick mascara,
Bright and gaudy clothes don't suit her
But make her more of a joke instead!

It has been said that a pretty face is a passport. But it's not, it's a visa, and it runs out fast.

A Sudden Lament

I came to a UK alumni reunion,
And I found myself, one very early morning
Lying on a solitary beach
With no one around
As everyone was still in bed.

Watching white horses racing towards the shore,
And listening to the pounding of waves,
I was suddenly thrown into a melancholy mood

When I thought of my halcyon days in the UK
I couldn't help it, but shed some tears.

I cried for the lost years
At my alma mater in the UK
Where I found myself being overwhelmed by an unrequited love
Totally unable or reluctant to seek the arms of another
To enjoy the carefree days of my youth.

I cried at first...and then, it was such a beautiful day, that I forgot to be unhappy.
