Early Wintry Mornings in Bad Godesberg

When I wake up in the small hours of the mornings in Bad Godesberg
Everything is so very still and quiet
But the silence seems to resonate and reverberate,
So deeply and loudly around my soul
I cannot help but feel the presence of the Lord.

The dark, soundless mornings put my mind working overtime
Thinking of loved ones and friends
I cannot help but thank the Lord greatly,
For a wonderful supportive wife, three great filial children,
And kind, truly sincere, friends.

To be capable of steady friendship or lasting love,
are the two greatest proofs, not only of goodness of heart,
but of strength of mind.

An Amazing Lady of the UK

Have you ever met a lady from Putney
Who lives in an exquisitely-furnished, Victorian mansion
With an Eden-like garden of cherry, apple and fig trees?

Have you ever been invited to her Oxford Road home
And feted to a totally scrumptious meal
Of pudding, Briyani, Masalla chicken and Cornish pastries?

Have you ever been asked to try her home-made liqueurs
And spend a few hours sipping bottles of her fantastic collection
Of Apricot Brandy, Crème de Cassis and Crème de Framboises?

Have you ever felt her sincere friendship
And come away from her pleasant company
Of warmth and new-found camaraderie?

Well, I have, and for the very first time
And I'd like to shout "Wow!"
She’s treated me so well.

My friend is one...who takes me for what I am
Henry David Thoreau

Dedicated in friendship to Rosita Pinto  -  a very warm, jovial person.

A Spammer on the Net

I am, but a spammer
Sending unsolicited mail
To friends I know
And to strangers in my e-groups
To enjoy the Net.

I have but ample time
To surf and search the Web
For stuff I enjoy
To share with others
The wonders of the Net.

Nothing that I am able to give to you do I find worthy of you,
and only in this way do I discover that I am a poor man.
And so I give to you the only thing I possess – myself.
Aeschines
