Safe on an Island Republic

Whenever I visited an island republic, I would usually take a stroll to the market at 5.00am and then walk along the beach. I would watch fish-mongers, butchers, vegetable-sellers and food hawkers set up their stalls at the market. I would have breakfast at one of the food stalls and then leave for the beach.

One day, as I was walking a couple of kilometres by the beach, a passer-by said to me, "Easy!"

I was puzzled and asked in return, "Easy?"

He replied, "Yes  -  easy life!"

That stranger must have heard me humming or singing to myself. I felt safe and easy walking around this island city, unlike back in my home city, where I was king-hit with a crash helmet by a pillion-rider about 50 metres from home last year. Deeply traumatized by that unfortunate encounter I now fear walking just outside my house, let alone around the city.
